The Oil Industrial Wasteland

Oil is definitely needed to fuel our economy. In my travels, I have seen the pump jacks quietly tucked away and almost blended into the scenery. When I visited New Mexico, the oil production kind of felt like an industrial wasteland.

The roads were long and often flat.

I would occasionally come up on a processing terminal and then drive back into the flatness.

At times no matter where you looked all you could see were pump jacks! It almost felt as if they were littered in the scenery and not carefully tucked away like I had experienced before. In many ways, it looked horrible!

I know oil is a vital part of our economy and it also fuels my road trips. I was just taken aback by the sheer volume of pump jacks and other equipment that came super close to the road I was driving on.
